Lutana Waste Transfer Station

The Lutana Waste Transfer Station (WTS) receives and consolidates waste from across the state before it is transported to the Copping Waste Precinct.

Waste received at the WTS is deposited on a walking floor and fed into one of two compactors before it is loaded into leak proof semi-trailers for transport to Copping. Compacting the waste ensures maximum legal payloads, which minimises the number of truck movements and reduces our carbon footprint.

Lutana WTS is licenced to accept municipal solid waste, general waste, commercial and industrial waste (C&I) and construction and demolition (C&D) waste.  Lutana WTS can also accept small volumes of asbestos. Lutana WTS does not accept any other regulated waste material as classified by the EPA.

Lutana WTS is undergoing a full redevelopment to provide resource recovery services to our customer base and the Tasmanian market. This will see SWS integrate its waste management business into the circular economy framework.
