Cam is a qualified legal practitioner, having worked as a corporate and commercial solicitor for about 25 years in Tasmania and England. During his career, Cam had extensive experience advising corporates and their officers on compliance obligations, duties, responsibilities and liabilities, governance arrangements, and all sorts of commercial and contractual dealings. Much of this was in the local government sector. Cam retired from practise at the end of the 2023-24 financial year. 

Cam is also an experienced non-executive director, having served as Chair and member on the boards of a number of local and national entities and audit panels. Cam is currently on the board of the Tasmanian Racing Club Inc, and a member of the Huon Valley Council audit panel. Cam was appointed as the Secretary of the SWS Board in August 2024.
